MANUALS AND ADDITIONAL INFO: PERFORMANCE TEST:

It is imperative to accurately measure the transom mount height for an Epropulsion outboard. Having the wrong measurement for the shaft length can drastically affect the performance of the outboard. If the measurement taken is too short for the transom mount, the propeller will not sit deep enough in the water. When the propeller does not sit deep enough in the water it will cavitate and decrease efficiency. If the measurement taken is too long for the transom mount, the propeller will sit too deep into the water. When a propeller sits too low behind a boat, it will have increased water resistance and reduced speeds.

ABOUT EPROPULSION:

Founded in 2012 in Hong Kong by a few water-sports-loving engineers, ePropulsion is dedicated to developing intelligent and sustainable marine propulsion systems. Through continuous research and innovation, ePropulsion has taken its first important leap in the last few years by successfully developing and manufacturing four major products – SPIRIT 1.0 Plus, NAVY 3.0, NAVY 6.0, and LAGOON - three electric outboard motors and one sup/ kayak propulsion motor. Spirit 1.0 plus

Better than I expected. I took it out for the first time and was conservative on the battery and speed I went. Ended up making it all day 8+ hours with 2 bars left on the meter. Stopped at a couple islands.

Good but needs a small improvement

This is my 2nd, updated review. I use the Spirit 1.0 plus on a Lowe 1240 jon boat. The boat is 125 pounds, 12 feet long, and me and my gear altogether weighs 175+40 = 215 lbs. My top speed at full throttle varies from 5 mph to 5.6 mph. At this speed my remaining range is 75-80 minutes. As soon as I slow down the range goes up to 5-6 hours or longer. The speed variance is due to wind. The water is a calm lake in N. California. My single complaint is that the two electrical connectors are flimsy and small. I'm concerned that they might not last very long. The website claims that the Spirit has similar power to a 3 hp gas outboard. For the sake of comparison, I also have 5 hp Honda BF 5, which does a top speed of 17.3 mph at full throttle. The speed numbers are taken from a Garmin GPS / fishfinder and I can't verify their accuracy. In summary, for a calm, small lake and fishing the Spirit 1.0 is definitely superior. For extended range and faster speeds the Honda is better. I'm 75 and setting up the Spirit is relatively easy. Setting up the 60 lbs Honda BF 5 is a struggle for me - but men in better shape don't need to worry.
