Extremely Disappointing Customer Service
I ordered multiple items from Newport (NK300 motor, Battery and Kayak series trolling motor) and unfortunately had a very poor customer service experience. The Kayak series motor didn't arrive for several weeks. I tried to follow up and couldn't figure out what is goin on.. So, all in all the Kayak series motor was never delivered, and it took approximately literally 3 weeks of trying to get the issue resolved.
Even after the issue was finally addressed, I received no apology and no explanation for what really happened. I asked to cancel this item of my order list and refund for the missing item. After 3 weeks and finally after I spoke with someone who was suppose to review what happened and all simply removed from my missing trolling motor off the order, and I was left expecting a refund for that portion of the purchase.
I understand that shipping problems happen, but the lack of communication and follow-up and proper explanation was the most disappointing part. After purchasing multiple items, I expected much better customer service.
Id like to find a way to post this review publicly because I think potential customers should know about my experience not just visitors to Newport’s own website which is probably not going to post this negative experience. Overall im very disappointed customer.

Received and installed my replacement NV 55lb which was a replacement for my 2019 NV 55 which had speed failures repeated times .After speaking to the Newport rep l was provided with a great customer loyalty replacement price on a new unit. All is well, runs great very pleased with Newports customer service.

Good Motor - Improve the quality of the speed control switch!

I have had a 62lb NV motor for 6 years. It has been great. However, this year I was out in some heavy winds and needed full power to get home... and the motor lost all but low-speed. Some online reading revealed that all brands have a common problem - extended use at full power causes over-heating and burns out the speed control switch.
That switch is the #1 selling part for NV motors. It is not expensive. There are lots of generic switches available too.
With such a common problem, couldn't Newport differentiate themselves from lesser brands by putting in a more robust switch???

I purchased a NV Series 55Lb Trolling motor

I purchased a 55lb Thrust NV Series Trolling motor. For the price it was a good buy. For the actual usefulness and for a 55lb Thrust Trolling motor I put it on a Bondafide Pwr129 with a Tiller Extension arm. I was hoping to have a bit more power pushing me. In the summer months fishing through hydrilla it slows it down so much I end up just pulling it up and have to paddle. Would I buy another 55Lb NV Series probably not. It makes me wonder how well the NK300 or NK180 would handle types of grass or weeds.

Smooth Power!

We needed a more powerful motor than a standard 12V trolling unit for our 8’ x 16’ floating dock/boat. I tried a discount no name brand motor and after the first venture out on the lake I realized the quality just wasn’t there; one of the battery charge indicator LEDs wouldn’t light up and the throttle was very finicky for the various speed settings. The Newport NV86 works perfectly, runs much more smoothly and even though rated the same seems to be more powerful than the previous bargain basement motor.

I really like the Newport NV 62pd trolling motor. The head cam be turned around to mount the motor on the bow . Works great on my Tracker 12' jon boat , makes it easy to troll the river . The 5 forward 3 reverse gears are awesome the 5th gear is fast . Customer service is very good and helpful. You cant beat the price for a reliable and tough motor . I recommend newport and will buy from them again.

NV SERIES TROLLING MOTOR

I have owned my 36lb and 55lb thrust for a few years, it’s been on my jon boat, canoe, and kayak and never failed to get us to the spot and back to the ramp. Being in the PNW it’s been in salt, sand, freshwater, hit logs and scraped rocks and still moves like the day I got it!

Got the NV Series 55 lb thrust after talking with the good folks at Newport. Unit is very well built and runs my 12 ft square back canoe marvelously. Robust construction & operates perfectly. Plenty of power. Ran it for 5 hours on my 100 aH Lithium battery and still had plenty of run time on the battery. Came well packaged to protect the motor and set up was easy. Very pleased with this purchase. A whole lot of motor for the money.
