The most memorable fish from my youth was one I never landed. A 4 lb smallmouth living in a deep pool behind my home. After getting it the bank on my little ultralight the fish came off the hook and made its way back into the water before I could get my hands on the fish. That one fish has kept me chasing them year after year now.
