Congratulation on your purchase of a Newport Dinghy! Your boat is going to help you get out on your next adventures! Our dinghies require some maintenance that will lengthen your boat’s life and reduce future maintenance.

How Not To Clean Your Inflatable Dinghy

You would not believe the horror stories of customers improperly cleaning their boats. Some of these untraditional methods can weaken PVC and requires the boat to be patched. To assist customers, we have written a comical but necessary list of ways you should never clean your boat:

  1. Pressure washing
  2. Using MEK or Acetone regularly
  3. Using aerospace 303 multiple times a year
  4. Forcefully cleaning with metal or hard bristly brushes
  5. Using sharp objects

Keep your boat looking clean like this one by following the steps below!

Supplies

You will need to purchase or collect your cleaning supplies. The following are recommended:

  • Gloves
  • Towels, old clothing, or microfiber towels
  • Inflatable Boat Cleaner by NRS
  • Spray Bottle
  • Soft Brush
    • For Tough Stains
  • Dish soap
  • 303 Aerospace Protectant*
    • For UV Protections

Cleaning

Make sure you thoroughly rinse the boat. Mix your NRS Inflatable Boat Cleaner following their instructions. NRS recommends using a spray bottle as the cleaner will evaporate into the air over time. Please wear the necessary personal protective equipment.

Spray one section of the boat at a time and clean it immediately. Use a circular motion to remove any dirt or grime, paying attention to the cleanliness of your rag. Clean your rag often to ensure you aren’t spreading dirt around from one area of the boat to another.

Spend extra time wiping out and cleaning hard-to-reach areas. If you cannot spray the area, apply some cleaner to your rag. These areas may be dirtier than you expect. Cleaning these areas will reduce mold growth.

After cleaning your boat, you may spray it down to remove the last bit of cleaner. Remember raising the boat and spraying from top to bottom will allow you to remove the last bit of cleaner and dirt quickly.
