Making History at Lake Havasu: Newport Bassmaster Kayak Series Event #1

The 2025 Newport Bassmaster Kayak Series presented by Native Watercraft launched in style on January 18-19 at Lake Havasu, AZ. This event was not only the start of the 2025 tournament season but also a historic milestone—the first-ever Bassmaster Kayak Series event held on the West Coast.

Event Highlights:

A Competitive Showcase: 111 anglers competed on Lake Havasu’s legendary waters, targeting both largemouth and smallmouth bass.
Drew Gregory’s Standout Performance: Although not a Newport-sponsored angler, Gregory’s win with 165.25 inches of Havasu smallmouth showcased the effectiveness of stern-mount kayak outboards in high-stakes competition. His presence on stage brought Newport motors front and center.
Newport’s Presence: Roughly half of the competitors in the field ran a Newport NK300 or NK180PRO motor, and the event directly influenced other anglers to explore adding a Newport setup to their tournament rigs.
