Good Motor. Bad connector contact. Delayed throttle caused crashes. AI shouldn't be in the warranty business.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I think this is a great product, but there are some things to be aware of. First, using the throttle handle, unlike a gas outboard, there is a delay between setting it and the motor actually responding from neutral. This resulted in a few boat crashes before I realized that there was about a 2 sec delay. Rotating the handle really slowly from neutral will get a really slow setting, like 1% or 2% power which is great although little steering response at this level. But, it is easy at first to keep turning the throttle until it responds and then with more speed than expected. It this delay could be reduced to under a second, it would be better. Second, the motor has most of the weight at the bottom at the motor so unlike most outboards, it takes a bit to find the balance point. Third, I asked a customer support person if the motor could be raised vertically, not tilted, and he said yes, use the levers on one side or the other. I could not make this work and I don't think the motor can be adjusted vertically. Fourth, out of the box, I received a battery cable with a bad/intermittent connector so I've only used the motor once when I found the damaged contact in the cable. The motor wouldn't start or would give low voltage errors and more when running. I called to get a replacement and was told to email my connector picture to support and that AI Jack would be bypassed. That didn't happen, and Jack asked me to fill out a warranty ticket with irrelevant information but not the r...

Battery Great. Battery App working better after starting glitches
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
The battery is working great. It runs longer than I expected with my NT300 so I will likely have more than enough capacity for all the things I would like to do with my RIB. Mostly, this is for shore access in a boat that I can lift on and off of the beach. The battery app, however, had problems and would show all 0s for everything after selecting the battery to connect to. It would take many tries or many killings and restart of the app to get it to work on a Samsung phone. A new download of the app is better and with limited tests, seems to connect within about 8 second. So, note that there can be a bit of a delay. I find it very useful to see the BMS state of charge to know how many Ahrs are left to use as a gas tank (coulomb tank). Also note that, a password is needed to see the detailed information. Jack the AI didn't know what it was, but I was able to talk with a human to get it. All the cells in the battery are balanced to less than 1 mv so that's a good start for the new battery and this will allow me to better see the problem if there should be any battery issues in the future.

Great motor with great reviews and a fair price.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Motor is light and powerful. Especially compared to a similar gas engine. Received excellent reviews online and on you tube. The main reason I bought it was the excellent reviews and price. By far, the best priced motor in it's class. Looking forward to using it on a lake that only allows electric motors.

Awesome motor. Easy setup....
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Awesome motor. Easy setup. Seems heavier than my old Torqeedo. Propelled 2000 lb sailboat for 1.5 hours (no sail on this day) and battery went from 40+ to 36. No regrets with Newport. Saved $1000 with this motor. Could have probably gotten by with regular shaft-but would have assumed distance on sail boat vrs fishing boat would require long shaft.

Despite its shortcomings, it’s still the best option.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
The NT300 has been a game changer, the ability to use our own battery has been perfect. We’ve been able to go large aH and add solar to the dinghy to keep it topped off. There are a few issues, first the Anderson Connection rusted out after about a year and needed to be butt spliced to move the Anderson to an area where it wasn’t exposed to the elements, and leaving the tiller arm down is NOT recommended, after about 25 months of use as a full time liveaboard sailor using it as our daily driver the tiller rubbed through and the tiller’s water seal was compromised causing the controller board to short out and die. Still, I loved it enough to pay full price for a second one and was so dependent on it that I had it sent overnight express. And I plan on trying to fix the broken one to use on a second dinghy.

Excellent Electric Outboard – Quiet, Powerful, and ReliablE
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Excellent motor! The NT300 is quiet, powerful, and easy to use. It has plenty of thrust, smooth throttle response, and paired with a 36V lithium battery provides great runtime. I love not having to deal with gas, noise, or maintenance. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable electric outboard.
