      Smart Battery Box Review

      The NV Smart Battery Box makes life easier on my Sea Eagle 437ps. Connecting Trolling Motor to the battery is fast and efficient. I find it cleaner and easier than using a quick disconnect. The 12v Aux Pwr outlet and the USB Power Port make connection to the Fish Finder a breeze. I had the box about a year and the battery level LEDs were "ON" continuously. I called Newport Support and then completed the Warranty Request. The Newport Customer Support is FANTASTIC! The Customer Support Rep even contacted me a few days after my request to followup and ensure that I was taken care of. Newport Customer Service sent me a brand new Smart Battery Box and told me to keep the original to use a 2nd unit or spare parts. I couldn't ask more from a company! BTW, I'm using the original box for a new Lithium Ion Battery for my new NEWPORT 55lb Thrust Trolling Motor. The Battery Box LEDs don't work correctly with Lithium Ion Batteries, anyways. (I believe this is because the Smart Battery Monitors the battery voltage. Lithium Ion Batteries maintain a constant 12.8VDC output throughout the discharge cycle, so they don't sense the diminishing voltage levels that the battery monitor uses to indicate the State of Charge... I could be wrong on this)

      This thing works great. I used it while fishing at the Hobie BOS event on Cayuga and charged my phone, Apple Watch and a fan for 5 days and worked flawlessly

      So Easy To Use

      This was one of the best purchases I have made. It stores my 100ah battery. And comes with usb ports. The cigarette lighter port I added an adaptable 2 more usb ports so plenty of power to go around!

      Great battery box!

      This is a very good battery box. The company is also great and stands behind their products. I had an issue with my first battery box where the led light would never stop flashing and eventually run the battery down, I called the company and sent videos and pictures of what was happening. After a few days in review, they sent me a new box and it works exactly how it should, no more issues. Very good and handy battery box with several outlets for power.

      Larger than I expected

      Functionally it is great but I wished it was smaller since it takes up a lot of space in my 12 foot canoe. My size 24 battery has plenty of space left over inside the box. It sure seems sturdy and has some nice features.

      This thing is AWESOME!

      So far it's just been set up with the battery and I've created the mount point in the kayak. The power port and the USB port will be really useful with the system lights and using my phone as the fishfinder screen. Don't even have to go looking for circuit breakers with the ones already installed. This is nice.

      • How to Measure Battery Charge Level:
        Down Arrow

        1. Connect the device to a trolling motor.
        2. Press and hold the test button. The number of illuminated LEDs will indicate the charge level of the battery.

      • USB Operation:
        Down Arrow

        To use the USB Port, plug in the USB device into the port. Then press the test button to wake up the system. When the USB port is connected to a mobile device and charging it, the last LED will keep flashing for the duration of the connection.
