United StatesInstalling 2-NK300 motor on his & her TitanX 12.8 & 10.5 kayaks. I'm reading online about steering issues once power is above 50%. 1. Many have written online that Kayak rudder steering alone is not adequate, as the motor overpowers the stock rudder system. 2. Its written online that motor steering at greater than 50% power generates a great deal of motor torque. This make steering very difficult using cable systems, as a lot of force is required to make a turn. It's been written that hand steering via cables may break the plastic steering arm. For example, the Tim Percy system. Also, it's written that plastic foot controls are not strong enough and plastic pedals bend. Reports say aluminum foot pedals are required so the most force can be applied to turn the motor at higher speeds. Seems to me the root of the problem in these cases is that the NK300 motor is still using the 180 series small, plastic, steering triangle. The solution to the written NK300 steering difficulties may be a redesigned, longer, larger metal steering triangle that makes a stronger "lever" to control the NK300's steering torque once power is greater than 50%. This seems a safety issue, in my opinion. Curious on NP's thoughts regarding this matter. You can read the written reports many online users have written, as I have done. I have 2 Tim Percy steering systems shipping that I plan to try. Our 2 NK300 motors are still shipping. Thank you!

United StatesThe customer service did a good job helping we will an issue I had with my NK300 motor. I’m not sure exactly why the motor would not work but Newport replaced my NK300 within a few weeks. The unit is a great motor. I can run it all day and there’s plenty of juice left. I can maintain 4 miles an hour in San Diego Bay, and that’s with the throttle at 30% . Overall, I’m extremely happy with the motor and it’s performance.
