The Newport LoPRO Lithium Batteries are designed to deliver reliable power across all voltage and amp-hour configurations. No matter which version you have—12V, 24V, or 36V—the setup process remains the same. Follow these simple steps to get started and ensure optimal performance.

Step 1: Unpacking and Initial Setup

  1. Remove the Battery from Packaging
    • The LoPRO battery case is identical across all configurations; only the internal setup varies.
  2. Attach the IP67 Compression Plugs
    • Each terminal has a plastic cover; remove it before installation.
    • Connect red to red and black to black on the battery terminals.

Step 2: Charging the Battery

  1. Plug the Charger into the Wall
    • Once connected, let the battery charge completely.
  2. Monitor the Charge Status
    • A solid green light indicates a full charge.
  3. Unplug the Charger
    • Once fully charged, disconnect the charger before proceeding.

Step 3: Connecting the Power Pigtail

  1. Attach the Power Pigtail to the Battery
    • Again, connect black to black using the IP67 plugs.
    • These plugs require firm pressure until you hear a click and lock.
  2. Removing the Plug
    • Press the small release button on the plug and gently wiggle it off.
    • If needed, use duckbill pliers for assistance.

Step 4: Connecting to the Newport BMS App

  1. Pair with the Battery Management System (BMS)
    • Download and install the Newport BMS app.
    • Connect to the battery using the serial number found on the bottom back corner.
  2. Monitor Your Battery
    • Ensure the battery is at 100% charge before use.
    • If running multiple batteries in series or parallel, check one at a time.

Step 5: Battery Orientation & Mounting

  1. Flexible Mounting Options
    • The battery can be mounted upright, flat, or even upside down.
    • Built-in strap mounting grooves allow for secure installations.
  2. Parallel or Series Connections
    • Use Newport’s Parallel Wiring Kit for expanded power needs.
    • Batteries nest securely with recessed corners to prevent movement.

Step 6: Post-Use Maintenance

  1. Cleaning After Use
    • If exposed to mud, sand, or saltwater, leave plugs intact and rinse with a light water mist.
    • Dry completely before unplugging and charging.
  2. Storage & Charging
    • If storing for extended periods, top off the charge once a month.
    • Use the BMS app to monitor charging cycles and battery health.

Additional Features

  • Up to 10,000 Charging Cycles
    • With proper care, your LoPRO battery will last for years.
  • IP67 Waterproof Rating
    • Fully sealed against water ingress.
  • Self-Regulating Pressure Vent
    • Includes a Gore-Tex vent to maintain internal pressure. Do not tamper with it.
