      My experience with my Nk 180 has been nothing but positive. It has allowed me to change up the way I pre fish and the water I am able to cover. On a 60 ah battery my Nk 180 will run me strong for 2 days straight! I look forward to getting the 300 someday, but the 180 will definitely get any job done when needed!

      Best Bang for the Buck

      I have been loving my Nk180. Paired up with a Jackson Coosa X this thing is a mean, river machine. I have yet to find any current that I can't get through and being able to adjust to just the right power to hold steady in current is vital to making the perfect casts to find big smallies.

      Couldn't ask for a better motor

      After reviewing all my options for motors for my kayak, I decided to go with the NK180. After looking at the longevity, the customer service, speed, etc, Newport seemed like the no brainer. I mounted it to my Hobie PA 12 with Tim Percy mount, and the install was flawless. The motor is fast. Like, Scary fast. Going with the current, I had it up to 6.8 MPH which is not a speed I ever want to do again in a kayak, but it is great when you have a "I need to leave this area now" situation. I'm running it on a 60 AH lithium battery and honestly have no idea how long it lasts because I haven't run it dry yet, even after 8 hour trips. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the motor!

      Tough, Dependable, and Easy to Rig

      Let me start by saying that at this point in time I have 3 NK180s. Between the three of them and miles upon miles of use, I have yet to have one single issue with the motor. Both my clients and I love the worry free operation. I have a setup on a Hobie Compass, Crescent Shoalie, and an Old Town Topwater PDL. The installation on all of these kayaks was a breeze. The only that needed slight modification was on the Topwater and I made a custom mounting plate for that. With a 24v50ah battery, I get hours of run time, even with the throttle at or above 80%. With a battery of this capacity, I don't even worry about it on river floats of 8-10 miles. If I go upstream, the battery will have more than enough juice to cover 2+ miles depending on throttle settings and flow rate. It could certainly go much further in lighter flows when not much speed is needed. Maintenance is simple: pop off the nut behind the prop and check for debris. Remove those and replace the nut. Done. If you're worried about these motors hitting rocks in rivers, don't be. Mine have been through the ringer on the Susquehanna, MIssissippi, and countless other small rivers. They may have a few scratches now, but that doesn't affect performance! The longer I own these motors, the tougher it is for me to throw them on the kayaks if I'm heading out on the water.
